New Dance Classes

We first introduced dance classes last year, and they’ve been a big hit. So we’re excited to announce that we are adding three new dance classes in the Fall. These include:

Ballet/Tap Combo II

  • Ages: 5 – 7
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

Dancers, both new and those returning from Ballet/Tap 3-5, will further explore freedom of expression through dance and movement. We incorporate various routines of both styles of dance using choreographed and improvised games and exercises. In ballet we include an introduction to classical music with various warm ups using beginner ballet steps, technique and dance games. For tap time, we’ll explore our beginner steps and technique while moving and grooving to upbeat music that will have all our dance students carrying a song in their heart and rhythm in their feet the whole week long.

Ballet

  • Ages: 8 – 10
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

In this class we will explore foundational steps and technique through traditional warm ups to strengthen and stretch our muscles, fun floor exercises to get our hearts pumping, improvisation opportunities to broaden our creativity and a choreographed piece to share at the end of the semester. This class will incorporate a mix of classical and contemporary music, all while helping to further develop our motor skills, body awareness and love of dance.

Tap

  • Ages: 8 – 10
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

This class works with beginners and anyone moving up from the Tap 5-7 class to introduce and improve technique with a focus on the development of the different sounds and rhythms that we can make with our feet. Throughout the semester we will strengthen our ears by learning to pair rhythms with familiar contemporary music, build our improvisation skills and challenge our brain/body connection to learn a routine that incorporates fully body movements and tap rhythms to be shared at the end of the semester.

Free Trial Classes

We are thrilled to be offering a few free trial classes with our new teacher Sarah Lubbe! These classes give you a chance to try one of our popular early childhood music programs for no cost! Register for your preferred classes below. You aren’t limited to just one! Tell your friends and come enjoy the class together!

Our Baby and Toddler classes are parent participation. Our Preschool class is normally an independently attended class but for the sake of the trials we ask that parents stay in the classroom to see all the fun we’re having!

Schedule:

Alice in Wonderland

A Junior Musical Theatre Production

A re-telling of the classic story by Lewis Carrol. Follow Alice as she travels through Wonderland chaperoned by the one and only Cheshire Cat. Along the way she races with a Dodo bird, shakes hands with a pair of very odd twins, learns a lesson in manners from a garden of cheeky flowers, recites poetry with a temperamental caterpillar, encounters the madness of the Hatter, and of course plays a very serious game of Simon Says with the always devilishly entertaining Queen of Hearts. Experience the story as we bring it to life right before your eyes!

Performed by our Junior Musical Theatre Company which is comprised a dozen actors ages 6-10. For many of these thespians this is their first onstage experience and they have been working non-stop since September to learn stage theory, their lines, songs, and dances to prepare a wonderful experience for their audience. Now is your opportunity to support these hard-working young people for their enthusiasm, effort, and team work while also helping ensure the future of arts. Bring your family and friends and support your local arts community.

Spring Break Camps 2016

Musical Theatre Day Camps at The Stage are an exciting and engaging activity for your child during Spring Break. Each week, students will participate in creating a musical theatre production; classes include singing, dancing and acting, as well as costume, set and props design and production.

Our Day Camps are a great way for children to try out theatre without having to commit to a longer course. If your child loves playing dress up and make believe, creates skits for Grandma and Grandpa to watch in the living room, or is simply looking for a new experience, this course is for you! Because we believe in small class sizes and quality instruction, scripts are tailor-made for each class to best suit the individual needs of students, whether this is their first time on stage or they’re experienced thespians.
