2014 Pride Festival

This weekend marked the end of the 2014 edition of the Pride Festival. For their 5th year, the festival expanded to a full week with events being held on every single day. The week culminated this past Saturday with the Columbia Street Party and we had the privilege of running the KidZone. The event was a resounding success. We’d like to thank New West Pride to invite to be part of this event, and we’d also like to thank our street party neighbours, Vancouver Circus School and the New West Arts Council for providing us with fabulous entertainment throughout the day.

Musical Theatre Day Camp

A couple of weeks ago we held our first Musical Theatre Day Camp of the year. Our students worked so hard preparing a presentation for their families and friends at the end of the week. When Friday finally arrived they had painted their own set, built their own props, and rehearsed a wonderful show entitled “Jasmine and the Magic Pickle Jar. You can find pictures of that week by following this link: 2014 Musical Theatre Day Camp Photo Gallery.

Our next edition of the camp is being held next week and it’s not too late to register. You can find more information about this program here.

Pier Park “New Families” Promotion

As you may know, on Saturday July 19, we are holding a free class at Westminster Pier Park between 11:00 and 11:45. What makes this class particularly exciting is that if you decide to attend we will be giving new families a promotional code that will be good for $20 off our baby and toddler programs this Fall.

About Pier Park Class – Stage Baby & Toddler Ages 0 – 35 months

Join us for singing, movement, music and instrument exploration with your little one. We’ll be combining activities from our Stage Baby and Stage Toddler classes, demonstrating a variety of activities appropriate for this broad age group.

About Stage Baby

Play musically with your baby through bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, moving and singing. Musical play activities are designed to increase your child’s curiosity about music, to develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and to establish the foundation for singing and musical thought. Also included in this class are infant massage techniques and baby sign language to encourage baby/caregiver bonding and communication. There is no better time to introduce your child to music than in the brief but important infancy stage.

About Stage Toddler

Participate with your toddler in singing, chanting, moving, dancing listening and playing simple instruments — while developing a strong musical bond with your child. Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, your child’s musical aptitude and listening abilities are enhanced and further developed.

Welcome Summer!

We spent the day yesterday at the Queensborough Children’s Festival painting faces and building tambourines. The sun was out, the wind was gusty and we were surrounded by some angry birds, super heroes, princesses and a few tigers. Overall, it was a perfect way to welcome the summer.

Thank you to the Queensborough Special Programs Committee for letting us participate for another great year!

Here are some great photos from the event.

Movie Nights in Queen’s Park

We’re excited to announce that we will be providing free face painting for four of the family movie nights being held in Queens Park:

We’ll be coming up with brand new designs based on each of the movies so don’t miss out!
