New Dance Classes - The Stage Musical Theatre Academy

New Dance Classes

We first introduced dance classes last year, and they’ve been a big hit. So we’re excited to announce that we are adding three new dance classes in the Fall. These include:

Ballet/Tap Combo II

  • Ages: 5 – 7
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

Dancers, both new and those returning from Ballet/Tap 3-5, will further explore freedom of expression through dance and movement. We incorporate various routines of both styles of dance using choreographed and improvised games and exercises. In ballet we include an introduction to classical music with various warm ups using beginner ballet steps, technique and dance games. For tap time, we’ll explore our beginner steps and technique while moving and grooving to upbeat music that will have all our dance students carrying a song in their heart and rhythm in their feet the whole week long.

Ballet

  • Ages: 8 – 10
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

In this class we will explore foundational steps and technique through traditional warm ups to strengthen and stretch our muscles, fun floor exercises to get our hearts pumping, improvisation opportunities to broaden our creativity and a choreographed piece to share at the end of the semester. This class will incorporate a mix of classical and contemporary music, all while helping to further develop our motor skills, body awareness and love of dance.

Tap

  • Ages: 8 – 10
  • Length of class: 60 minutes
  • Instructor: Erin Michell

This class works with beginners and anyone moving up from the Tap 5-7 class to introduce and improve technique with a focus on the development of the different sounds and rhythms that we can make with our feet. Throughout the semester we will strengthen our ears by learning to pair rhythms with familiar contemporary music, build our improvisation skills and challenge our brain/body connection to learn a routine that incorporates fully body movements and tap rhythms to be shared at the end of the semester.
