Waiver

Please fill out this waiver and bring in on the first day. If your child has taken a class between September 2019 and the start of your day camp chances are you have filled one out and do not need to do so again. If you don’t remember if you’ve filled one out please complete one and hand it in to the office. Copies will also be available at the studio on the first day of class. Please ensure that ALL of your child’s important medical and contact information is accurate by logging in to your Parent Portal.

***Notice of Special Needs***

It is vital your child’s success that teacher’s are prepared for any special needs your child may have. Failing to include important learning, emotional, or social challenges your child has will greatly effect your child’s experience. Staff are prepared to work very closely with parents of children who require additional needs, but only if we are told in advance the best ways to work with and communicate with your child. If your child has autism, ADD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Needs or other important developmental characteristics please include as much information in your child’s file as possible. We cannot support what we do not know or understand and rely on parents to be forthcoming with this information.

ALLERGIES

If your child has allergies it is mandatory that you fill in the Anyphilaxis Emergency Plan that was emailed to you. Please arrive with this document and give it to your teacher.

ALLERGY AWARE STUDIO

Summer Instructors have completed 3 Allergy Aware courses online in preparation for summer programs. Please note that our summer programs are peanut/tree nut free classes. We also request no sesame seed products and seafood as these are common allergens. All snacks and lunches are checked before eating. Any snacks that could pose an allergy risk will be left unopened and returned home. There is no sharing of food items or utensils unless it’s among siblings with no allergies.

**If you send your child with WOW Butter or a seed butter please be sure include a note, that identifies this product as safe for our studio.**

SNACKS

Please make sure your child brings a healthy snack each day. We will be taking a snack break in the mid morning after outdoor play. Please bring a refillable water bottle to use throughout the day. Candy is not permitted. Please be aware of allergy considerations listed above.

DRESS CODE

Please send your child dressed in comfortable play clothing. Because students will also be creating artwork there is the risk of paint/ink/market getting on your child’s clothing so please don’t send them in anything that . Street shoes are not permitted on our dance floor; bare feet or dance shoes are more than welcome.

BATHROOM

All students should be pro-potty for this class. We do not have the ability to change diapers or trainers at our studio. We understand that accidents happen and are prepared to handle those situations, but ask that your child be far enough along in their toilet training to be able to notify an instructor when they need to use the bathroom.

It is mandatory that parents take their child to the bathroom prior to the beginning of class, even if you are running/arriving late. Please understand that it is much easier for parents to take 1 or 2 children at a time. If one child in our class needs to go to the bathroom it will mean the whole class needs to put on shoes and make the trek. We will, of course, make sure that any child who needs to use the bathroom is taken, but we appreciate knowing that a child has gone before the scheduled bathroom trip time (see Daily Schedule).
Regarding bathroom visits teacher’s are responsible for:
– escorting children to and from the bathroom
– supervising and managing the behaviour of the group inside the bathroom, remaining in the sink area
– entering the stall with a child only if they require assistance with their clothing or getting on/off the toilet or if there is an emergency
– ensuring hand washing
**If your child requires bathroom hygiene assistance please notify your instructor on your first day**

CLASS MATERIALS

Sometimes, not always, teachers will post material on the Parent Portal. When you login you will see icons that will take you to music and other files. Please check here for any information your teacher has shared. They may not share material so don’t be concerned if your folder is empty for your child’s class.

DAILY SCHEDULE

The schedule is subject to change based on the group. Somedays we need more outside time than others, some days art will take a little longer. We will balance the class time as needed.
9:00-9:15 – Drop-Off
9:15-9:30 – Welcome Circle
9:30-10:30 – Class Time and “Rehearsal”
10:30-10:35 – Quiet Time Transition
10:35-10:50  – Group Bathroom Trip
10:50-11:20 – Snack
11:20-11:40 – Art
11:40-11:45 – Goodbye Circle

FINAL PERFORMANCE

Our final performance will be taking place at 11:15am on Friday of each week. We encourage you to bring a camera or video camera so Grandma and Grandpa can watch if they don’t live locally! An opportunity to take pictures will follow each performance.

It is a good idea to bring a bag on the last day to collect artwork and projects from the week.

*NEW* HOMEROOM APP

If you are so inclined we would like to try a pilot project with your class by using the Homeroom App. This allows us to create private albums for the camp so that we can share photos of our day. We will send you an access code and after you download the free app you will be able to see what we’re up to each day. This is not mandatory of course and we would ask all parents to be careful in how they share these photos via social media and respect the privacy of others.
