What They Are
Private instruction in singing for anyone ages 5 – 105! Lessons are tailored specifically to each student’s needs and goals.
When They Happen
Private singing lessons through The Stage Conservatory occur weekly, with either a 25-minute class, or a 55-minute class.
Lessons can be renewed and taken as an ongoing commitment. In fact, we encourage it! We do not charge per class, and should you choose to stop halfway through your 8 weekly classes, we do not provide refunds for unused classes.
Rescheduling requests must be made by notifying your instructor with a minimum of 24-hour notice. Failure to provide notice will result in a forfeited class to compensate the instructor’s time.
Instructors
Students can have a choice to book with an instructor of their choice, pending instructor availability, or can submit their schedule request and be assigned an instructor from the studio. Our current singing teachers are:
Kate Baer
Mezzo-Soprano Kate Baer, originally from Chatham Ontario, first fell in love with musical theatre in grade 8 when she saw Les Misérables on stage. In high school she performed in as many musicals as she could, including the role of Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and Carlotta in Phantom of The Opera. She enjoyed singing and performing so much, she decided to continue studying voice at Western University. While studying at Western, Kate started performing in operas such as the title role of Radamisto with AEDO, a summer opera program in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, (2015). After obtaining her Bachelor’s in Music, she moved to Vancouver, where she continued her studies of opera at UBC, performing as Orfeo in Handel’s Orfeo ed Euridice in 2017. Her most recent performance has been Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins with Theatre in The Country (2024). In her spare time, Kate likes to practice guitar, go for walks in the park with her rescue dog Milo, or go to the movies with her friends.
Whether you are interested in singing popular music, musical theatre, classical, jazz, etc., Kate is here to support you on your musical journey and provide you with all the tools and techniques for you to sing your very best and to have so much fun along the way!
Tuition
- 8 Weekly lessons 25-minute : $240
- 8 Weekly lessons 55 minute : $480
Every 8 week session is paid in full at the time of registration as a minimum 8 week commitment is expected.

Please note that classes may be booked up to 3 months in advance. If you wait until after your 8 weekly lessons are finished before renewing, your preferred date and time may no longer be available. You may wish to purchase 8 weekly lessons with a September start, as well as a November start, if you plan on taking classes long-term.
To Register
Registering for private singing classes happens by following these steps:
- Log into our Parent Portal (or create an account using the student’s full name and full birthdate).
- Under “Register”, select “Private Lessons and Appointments”. Then select the month you’d like to begin.
- You will be able to select a date and time for your first lesson. The remaining 7 classes will follow weekly, on the same date and time.
- Wait for an email from our office to confirm your teacher and start date.
- Start singing!
